Man United Close to Securing Ruben Amorim as New Boss

Manchester United are nearing a deal with Ruben Amorim to replace Erik ten Hag following his dismissal on Monday, 28 October.

The 39-year-old Portuguese tactician – who is currently Sporting Lisbon’s head coach – quickly became United’s primary target after impressing with his success in Portugal.

Known for his tactical acumen, Amorim has twice led Sporting to local league titles and has a string of domestic cups under his belt, cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most promising young managers.

Man United’s talks with Sporting include a compensation clause of £8.3 million for Amorim, who is expected to nearly triple his current salary to around £7 million annually. INEOS chief Sir Dave Brailsford played a central role in the discussions last week, reinforcing United’s commitment to securing Amorim’s services promptly.

Although other managerial options, such as Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Germany’s Julian Nagelsmann, were considered, the Red Devils’ swift pursuit of Amorim reflects their confidence in his potential.

Club legend Paul Scholes, however, voiced concerns about missing out on Thomas Tuchel, suggesting he could have been an ideal fit for the role.

The finalisation of Amorim’s appointment is now imminent, bringing fresh hope to a United side struggling to revive its season.
